A mouthwatering catelogue, a quality display in the show ring and a pudding full of proof in the sale ring. That was the breakdown of the latest insallment at Carmarthen Livestock Centre from The Holstein South Wales Club. Phillip Williams, judge for the day, sure had plenty to think about with two classes of heifers brimming with quality. First in her class of senior heifers, and Champion for the day was Tregibby Talent May. Out of two generations of cows classified Very Good, she was three weeks calved and giving 28 litres of milk daily. She sold at 2700gns and joined the dairy herd of G. Morgan, Goodwick. Reserve Champion was also winner of her respective class. Churchvale Bam Bam Irene VG85 had six generations of Very Good and Excellent cows, five of them Excellent, behind her, including the 10235kg show cow of the eighties Acme Senorita Irene Ex. She went to the Gwndwn herd form Pencader for 2750gns. Champion bull was Feithy Celebrity, a son of Calbrett-I HH Champion out of four generations VG/Excellent cows. His dam was the 8605kg heifer Honesberie Gibso Celeste VG86. He sold for 1300gns and also went to Goodwick in Pembrokeshir to M & B Williams and Son. Top price of the day was a heifer that did not feature in the honors but the quality on show meant a very narrow gap between receiving a ribbon or not. Tregibby Freelance Meg by Braedale Freelance and out of Tregibby Lee Meg EX93(3) the first of eleven dams classified Very Good or Excellent emmanating from the fine Meg families of Pinxton, Bartonhoo, Crudwell, Moorshard and Bishtonhall. She was a 32 litre a day heifer and sold for 3200gns to owens, Manor, St Clears.
